Bile Duct

position of the bile duct cavity and spaces- the bile duct is found in the abdominal cavity within the peritoneal space rightward and leftward positioning- it is a right sided structure it lies dominantly in the liver but exits the liver at its hilum travelling caudally and medially to enter the second portion of the duodenum the distal most branches of the right lobe are posterior relative to the common bile duct while the distalmost branches of the left lobe are anterior relative to the common bile duct long axis- the axis of the bile duct corresponds to the axis of the portal vein and the hepatic artery with a general trend from rightward position of the right lobe and a leftward position of the left lobe to a right paramedian position
